Basant festival fever grips Lahore as kite and string sales exceed Rs32 crore in just two days, reflecting high excitement.
Basant celebrations are in full swing in Lahore, with excitement visible across the city as kite flying enthusiasts gear up for the festival. Business has been booming, with sales of kites and kite strings hitting record numbers. On the second day alone, the Kite Flying Association reported sales surpassing Rs18 crore, adding to the Rs16 crore recorded on the first day. In just two days, total sales have crossed Rs32 crore, highlighting the festival’s immense popularity.
Markets remained crowded throughout the day as traders reported strong demand from early morning till night. Over 600,000 bundles of kites and around 15,000 spools of string were sold in various markets across the city, reflecting the festive spirit among residents.

Local shopkeepers and small business owners have benefited greatly from the surge in sales, earning significant profits during this period. The festival not only brings joy and color to the city but also provides a substantial boost to Lahore’s local economy.
