Flights cancelled and delayed at Karachi and Lahore airports due to operational issues and fog

Operational issues and dense fog caused multiple flight cancellations and long delays at Pakistan’s two major airports, leaving passengers stranded.

Flight operations at both Karachi and Lahore airports ran into trouble, leading to a string of cancellations and delays. In Karachi alone, five airlines had to be called off after operational issues cropped up. These included Oman Air’s Airline WY 324 from Karachi to Muscat, AirSial’s PF 141 and PF 145 on the Karachi, Lahore route, AirSial flight PF 123 heading to Islamabad, and PIA AirlinePK 306 bound for Lahore.

Over in Lahore, the situation wasn’t much better. Thick fog settled around the airport, throwing airline schedules badly off track. As a result, several international departures and arrivals were cancelled outright. In total, five airlines at Lahore Airport were scrapped, while a number of others were pushed back by more than six hours, long waits for passengers stuck at the terminal.

Among the cancelled departures from Lahore were Saudi Airlines flights SV 738 and SV 739 to Jeddah, along with Airblue flight PA 410 to Dubai. Incoming airlines didn’t escape the disruption either. Airblue airline PA 411 from Dubai and Etihad Airways airline EY 284 from Abu Dhabi, both headed to Lahore, were also cancelled.

A few airlines did eventually make it through, though not on time. Airblue airline PA 473 from Jeddah arrived four hours and fifteen minutes late, while Saudi Airlines flight SV 734 from Jeddah reached Lahore with a delay of one hour and twenty minutes.
