(PDMA) Punjab Authorities place emergency services on high alert as heavy rainfall and snowfall forecast for January 26–27
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a weather warning, stating that more rain and snowfall are expected in different parts of the province.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department forecast rainfall from January 26 to 27 in several districts of Punjab. Following this prediction, Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab sent emergency alerts to multiple departments, including local government authorities, hospitals, Rescue 1122, police, transport offices, and district administrations. All departments have been directed to remain prepared for any emergency situation.
According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, heavy rain and snowfall are expected in Murree, Galiyat, and other hilly areas during January 26 and 27. Rain is also likely in major cities including Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said that all concerned departments must stay fully alert in line with the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab. He directed that emergency control rooms should operate round the clock to ensure immediate response to any situation. Rescue 1122 teams have also been placed on standby.
PDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions. Tourists planning to visit Murree have been urged to exercise caution and strictly follow official guidelines. Local authorities in Murree are already on high alert due to the expected snowfall.
