Nankana Sahib bans kite flying for Basant 2026, celebrations allowed only in Lahore (Feb 6–8) under strict safety rules.
The district administration of Nankana Sahib has announced that Basant 2026 will only be celebrated in Lahore on 6th, 7th, and 8th February. This decision was shared during a high-level meeting about kite flying, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao. Officers from the police, additional deputy commissioner office, and other departments attended the session.
Deputy Commissioner Rao stated that kite flying and kite making are completely banned in Nankana Sahib. He warned that anyone violating the law will face strict punishments and heavy fines under the new Kite Flying Act. The DC emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens is a top priority, and the ban will be strictly enforced across the district.

The district administration’s spokesperson explained that the Punjab government is officially organizing the three-day Basant 2026 festival only in Lahore, and no other city is permitted to celebrate during these dates. Citizens have been advised to comply with the law, avoid kite flying, and prevent accidents or legal complications.
