Activists are planning a new and bigger boat mission to send aid to Gaza with over 100 boats and up to 1,000 doctors and helpers.
A group of activists are planning a new and bigger boat mission to send aid to Gaza. Last year, their boats were stopped at sea by Israel. This year, they want to try again with many more boats and people.
They may use more than 100 boats this time. They also said that up to 1,000 doctors and helpers could be part of the mission. They want to take aid to the people of Gaza.
Last October, about 40 boats tried to reach Palestine. The Israeli military stopped them at sea. Many people on the boats were arrested, including Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and more than 450 others.
The organisers met in Johannesburg at a place named after Nelson Mandela. They said this mission is about helping people and standing for justice. Nelson Mandela’s grandson said they want people from all over the world to support them.

Israeli officials said the earlier missions were only for publicity. They said these boat trips were not serious aid efforts.
Israel controls all entry into Gaza. Israel says it is allowing supplies to enter for the people living there. But Palestinians and aid groups say the help is still not enough, even after a ceasefire started in October.

After the ceasefire, Israeli forces now control more than half of Palestine. Many people were told to leave their homes. Most of Gaza’s people are now living in a small area near the sea, in tents or damaged buildings.
Activists said that even if their boats are stopped again, they will still continue. They said it is important to show the world how hard life is in Palestine.
One said that even if they cannot reach Palestine by boat, the people there will know that others care about them and will keep trying to help.
