Indian film Haq wins hearts in Pakistan after Netflix release, earning praise for its emotional story and strong performances.

Haq is an Indian courtroom movie that was released in cinemas in November 2025. Later, it was released on Netflix on January 2, 2026. After coming to Netflix, the film quickly became popular around the world, including in Pakistan.

The movie is written by Reshu Nath and directed by Suparn Verma. It stars Yami Gautam Dhar as Shazia Bano and Emraan Hashmi as Advocate Mohammad Abbas Khan in the main roles. Other actors in the film include Sheeba Chaddha, Vartika Singh, and Danish Husain.

The story of Haq is inspired by a real court case from 1985, known as Mohd. Ahmed Khan v. Shah Bano Begum. The film shows a strong legal and emotional struggle about women’s rights and financial support, while also discussing religious and civil laws.

“Good cinema crosses borders when it speaks about justice, dignity, and human rights.”

Yami Gautam’s film Haq is receiving a lot of praise in Pakistan, even though relations between Pakistan and India have been tense recently. Many Pakistani celebrities and viewers have appreciated the movie after its Netflix release. People especially praised Yami Gautam’s emotional and powerful acting.

Pakistani celebrities such as Fazila Qazi, Yasir Hussain, and others shared positive reviews. Yasir Hussain called the movie beautiful, while Fazila Qazi praised Yami’s strong performance. Maryam Noor said the message of the film was shown very clearly and nicely.

However, a few viewers also discussed some scenes they felt were not fully close to Islamic teachings, such as the portrayal of beating after divorce. Still, most people agreed that Haq delivered a strong, emotional, and meaningful message.
