Lahore Traffic Police to Fine Motorcyclists Without Safety Rods from February 1

Lahore Traffic Police will issue challans from Feb 1 to bikers without safety rods under the Safe Basant campaign.

“Safe Basant” campaign launched to prevent injuries from kite strings; free safety rod installation announced.

The Lahore Traffic Police have announced that they will start issuing challans (fines) to motorcyclists who do not have safety rods on their bikes from February 1.

This announcement was made by CCPO Lahore Lahore Traffic police Bilal Siddique Kamyana. The decision has been taken to improve public safety during the Basant season.

This action is part of the “Safe Basant” campaign by Lahore Traffic police, which aims to protect both riders and pedestrians from injuries caused by kite strings. In the past, sharp and metal-coated kite strings have caused many serious accidents, especially for motorcyclists.

Safety rods installed on motorcycles help stop kite strings from hitting the rider’s neck or face, which can save lives and prevent serious injuries. To support this campaign, the authorities have announced that safety rods will be installed free of cost on up to one million motorcycles across Lahore.

For this purpose, around 100 installation camps will be set up in different areas of the city. However, officials have not yet shared the exact locations or timings of these camps. These details will be announced separately.

Along with the safety rod enforcement, the authorities have also introduced strict rules for Basant celebrations. These rules include allowing kite flying only on approved dates, controlling the sale and purchase of kites and strings, and enforcing a complete ban on aerial firing.

Officials have warned that anyone who breaks these rules will face strict legal action, and no exceptions will be made.
