MQM-P leader Mustafa Kamal urges federal control of Karachi, citing negligence and the Gul Plaza tragedy
MQM Pakistan leader cites Gul Plaza tragedy and provincial negligence as reasons for taking Karachi under direct federal authority.
MQM Pakistan leader and Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has once again demanded that Karachi should be placed under direct federal control.
While talking to Geo News, Mustafa Kamal said that an important city like Karachi should not remain under what he called an incompetent Sindh government. He said Karachi should immediately be taken under federal control and that the federal government can do this through a notification under Article 148 of the Constitution.
He referred to the Gul Plaza tragedy and said that people lost their lives due to negligence. He added that calling this negligence “cruelty” is the truth. He said that because of such incidents, Karachi should be freed from the control of the Sindh government, and recent actions by the provincial government have supported MQM’s stance.
“Demanding rights for Karachi is our right.”

Talking about the withdrawal of security from MQM leaders, Mustafa Kamal said that his own security has also been taken back. He stated that removing security does not scare them and will not silence their voices. He said the Sindh government has no right to rule Karachi and cannot suppress MQM by such actions.
The federal minister also said that people who raise slogans against Pakistan are given security by the Sindh government, while MQM leaders face restrictions. He claimed that such actions are damaging the country.
