Agency submits report stating two inquiries into social media activity remain pending due to lack of cooperation of PTI.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has submitted a report to the Islamabad High Court regarding a request to block the X (formerly Twitter) account of the founder of PTI.

According to the report, investigations into activities carried out through the founder of PTI’s X account are currently ongoing. However, the agency informed the court that the PTI founder is not cooperating with the investigation process.

The NCCIA stated that two separate inquiries have been initiated concerning tweets posted from the social media account. Both inquiries are still pending. The report mentioned that these inquiries were officially registered on May 19 and September 13, 2024.

“The court will review the NCCIA’s findings before making any further decision.”

As part of the investigation, the NCCIA team visited Adiala Jail multiple times. However, investigators were unable to determine who is operating the X account.

According to the agency, the PTI founder did not disclose who is managing his social media accounts and did not provide clear answers to the questions asked by the investigation team. The report further stated that despite repeated questioning, he refused to cooperate, which has delayed the completion of the investigation.

The matter is currently under review by the Islamabad High Court.
