Pakistan is thinking about boycotting the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup if Bangladesh decides not to take part in the tournament.

Pakistan is reconsidering its participation in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup if Bangladesh withdraws after the ICC rejected their request to move matches out of India.

This conflict began after the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejected Bangladesh’s request to move its T20 World Cup matches from India to another country. Bangladesh has refused to play in India because of safety concerns and political tensions.

Reports say that if Bangladesh chooses not to go to India and withdraw from the World Cup, Pakistan may also boycott the event in solidarity. Pakistan is closely watching Bangladesh’s final decision, which is expected soon.

Bangladesh is set to decide today whether it will play or not. Many senior players want to take part in the World Cup, and the Bangladesh government is speaking with the team to find a solution before making a final call.

Yesterday, the ICC officially rejected Bangladesh’s request to shift its matches from India to Sri Lanka. The ICC said it would be too difficult to change the schedule so close to the tournament, which begins on February 7, 2026.

“Whether Pakistan plays or boycotts, this issue shows how sports and geopolitics are increasingly linked.”

Because of this decision, Bangladesh faces a choice, play in India or risk being replaced by another team in the World Cup.

Pakistan has already shown support for Bangladesh’s stance and raised concerns with the ICC, but there is no final decision yet on boycott. Some reports now indicate Pakistan will not withdraw and will play its matches in Sri Lanka as planned.

The situation highlights how politics and cricket are influencing major sports events, and the final decisions of Bangladesh and Pakistan could change the look of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
