The Court in Rawalpindi has rejected the PTI founder’s request to be examined by his personal doctors while in Adiala Jail.
The court has rejected the request of the PTI founder for a medical check-up by his personal doctors.
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi dismissed the request. The hearing was conducted by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah. The Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Malik, appeared in court, while Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah presented arguments for the prosecution.
Lawyer Faisal Malik said that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was allowed treatment by his personal doctor while in jail. He argued that the PTI founder is also a former prime minister and deserves equal treatment. He added that Adiala Jail does not have proper facilities for eye treatment and that the PTI founder has the right to be examined by his own doctors.
Faisal Malik also said that according to jail rules, the family must be informed before any treatment. He questioned why the Imran Khan was taken to PIMS Hospital late at night when he had not been taken outside the jail for treatment in the past three years. He requested the court to allow the PTI founder’s personal doctors to visit him in Adiala Jail.

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah opposed the request. He said that the Imran Khan is not an under-trial prisoner. He explained that in the May 9 GHQ attack case, the PTI founder is on bail and is an accused, not a convicted prisoner. He added that criminal courts do not have the authority to decide custody matters for accused persons on bail.
The prosecutor further said that under Pakistan Prison Rules, medical treatment for prisoners is arranged by government doctors only. There is no rule that allows treatment by private or personal doctors in jail.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the request and did not allow the PTI founder’s personal doctors to visit him in Adiala Jail.
