The Sindh Education Department has made a fire safety system mandatory for all private schools across Sindh.
According to the notification issued in Karachi, the School Education Department has ordered private schools to immediately follow fire safety rules. Schools must install fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers in their buildings.
The department has also directed schools to keep emergency exits and staircases open and clearly visible at all times. Regular checking of the electrical system in schools has been made compulsory. Schools must also display an emergency evacuation plan at clear and visible places.
As per the instructions, schools must conduct at least two fire drills every year. Teachers and school staff must also be given proper training on fire safety.
