Vivo Y500s has officially been announced by Vivo as a new budget-friendly smartphone that builds upon the recently launched Vivo Y6t.
While the Vivo Y6t comes equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.74-inch display, and a 6,500mAh battery, the new Vivo Y500s brings several notable upgrades aimed at improving overall value in the entry-level segment.
The Y500s is expected to feature a larger battery, enhanced camera system, and improved durability features, making it a more refined option for users looking for a reliable and long-lasting affordable smartphone.
With these upgrades, Vivo continues its strategy of strengthening its budget lineup while offering incremental improvements over its previous models.
Design and Display
Vivo Y500s comes with a 6.75-inch LCD display featuring a resolution of 720 × 1570 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling, animations, and an overall more responsive visual experience.
On the front, the device includes an 8MP selfie camera (f/2.1 aperture) placed at the top of the display. For security, it is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, making unlocking both quick and convenient.
In terms of durability, the Vivo Y500s stands out with IP68 and IP69 ratings, providing protection against water immersion as well as high-pressure water jets. It also features stereo speakers, along with a useful one-button cleaning mode designed to help remove water from the speakers after accidental exposure.
The device is available in three color options: Obsidian Black, Galaxy Silver, and Phoenix Gold, giving users a range of stylish choices.

Internals and Software
Vivo Y500s is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. Although it is considered an entry-level chipset, it is built on an efficient 4nm process and supports 5G connectivity, making it suitable for everyday performance and better power efficiency.
The device is also offered with multiple memory and storage configurations. The base variant starts with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, media, and multitasking for most users in the budget segment.
With this combination of efficient processing, 5G support, and generous base storage, the Vivo Y500s aims to deliver a balanced experience in the affordable smartphone category.
Cameras
The Vivo Y500s comes with a significantly improved camera setup compared to its predecessor. On the rear, it features a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, offering clearer and more detailed photography performance, especially in low-light conditions.
This is a notable upgrade over the Vivo Y6t, which is equipped with a 13MP rear camera.
For selfies and video calls, the Vivo Y500s includes an 8MP front camera, designed to deliver decent quality for everyday use such as social media and video communication.
Battery and Pricing
The Vivo Y500s is equipped with a large 7,200 mAh single-cell battery, rated at a 28.23Wh typical capacity, making it one of the stronger points of the device in the budget segment.
For charging, it supports 44W FlashCharge via a USB-C port, using an 11V/4A charging standard. This allows for relatively faster charging speeds, helping users quickly top up the large battery despite its high capacity.
With this combination of a massive battery and fast charging support, the Vivo Y500s is designed to offer extended usage time, especially for users who prioritize long-lasting performance.

The Vivo Y500s features Vivo’s Blue Ocean 3 battery technology, designed to ensure safer and more stable charging even in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to 40°C.
Vivo also claims strong long-term durability for the battery, stating that it can retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, which the company estimates is equivalent to around six years of normal usage.
In terms of pricing, the device is positioned in the affordable mid-range segment. The variants are priced as follows:
- 8GB + 256GB – $265
- 12GB + 256GB – $320
- 8GB + 512GB – $320
With these specifications, pricing options, and long-term battery reliability, the Vivo Y500s aims to offer strong value for users looking for an affordable yet feature-rich smartphone.
