2.5-meter Giant Snake surprises woman in bed; calmness and quick thinking prevent disaster.
A strange and scary thing happened late Monday night in Brisbane, Australia. A big python, about 2.5 meters long, climbed onto a woman while she was sleeping in her bed.
The woman, Rachel Blower, was sleeping when she suddenly felt something heavy on top of her. At first, she thought it was her dog lying on her. But when she reached out with her hand, she realized it was not a dog. It was smooth and crawling, and it felt very strange.
Rachel said that when her partner turned on the bedside lamp, they saw something terrifying. Her husband shouted, “Don’t move… there is a 2.5-meter python on you.” Rachel said she was so shocked that she even said some bad words without thinking.

The first thing she did was tell her husband to take their dogs out of the room. She was very worried about their Dalmatian dog. She explained that if the dog had seen the snake on the bed, the situation could have become dangerous and uncontrollable. So, her first priority was to make sure the dog was safe.
Rachel said that getting out of the situation needed courage and calmness. She carefully tried to slide out from under the blanket without making sudden movements. She remembered thinking to herself, “Is this really happening? This is so strange.”
She thinks the python, which is not poisonous, probably came into the bedroom through a window shutter and ended up on the bed. Rachel carefully picked up the snake and slowly moved it back toward the window. She said the python did not look very scared at all.

Rachel explained, “The snake was so big that even though it was wrapped over me, part of its tail was still outside the window shutter.” She added that the snake moved a little in her hands, but it stayed calm most of the time.
She said that because she grew up around snakes, she was not as scared as most people would be. But her husband was completely shocked. She smiled and said, “If you stay calm, they usually stay calm too.”
Rachel also joked that if it had been a cane toad instead of a snake, the situation could have been much worse. Cane toads are poisonous frogs in Australia, and their venom spreads very quickly, making them very dangerous.
