“There Is a Difference Between Criticism and Rudeness”, Haris Rauf Speaks Out

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf says some people cross the line while criticizing players.

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has spoken openly about criticism, captaincy, and his role in the team, saying that there is a clear difference between healthy criticism and rudeness.

In a special interview from Australia, Haris Rauf said that players also feel deeply hurt when Pakistan loses a match. He stressed that fans should understand that cricketers give their full effort every time they represent the country.

Haris said that a captain plays a very important role in a player’s success. According to him, a captain can either build a player’s confidence or damage it. He added that it is the captain’s responsibility to use a player’s talent in the best possible way.

Talking about his cricket journey, Haris Rauf shared that although he does not have any special attachment to Australian pitches, starting his professional career in Australia helped him grow. Understanding Australian conditions and culture played a key role in shaping his game.

He also praised Melbourne Stars captain Marcus Stoinis for supporting him during his Big Bash League (BBL) career. Haris said the team management in BBL gave him confidence by telling him that the best batters in the world are afraid of his bowling.

Haris explained that his role, especially in T20 cricket, is to take wickets rather than just stop runs. He said bowling in the death overs is one of the most difficult jobs in cricket, and that is usually the responsibility given to him. He added that while he can bowl defensively to control runs, his main job is attacking and picking wickets.

Comparing leagues, Haris Rauf said the Big Bash League and Pakistan Super League (PSL) are very different. According to him, BBL is a well-established league with many top international players, while PSL is still developing. He expressed hope that after future auctions, more foreign players will join PSL.

Addressing criticism, Haris said that there is a big difference between constructive criticism and disrespectful behavior. He pointed out that some people in Pakistan cross this line. He added that despite performing consistently after the Asia Cup, he continues to face criticism.

In the end, Haris Rauf wished the Pakistan team success in the T20 World Cup and said he will always give 100 percent whenever he plays for his country.
