Islamabad High Court expresses dissatisfaction with PTA’s reply regarding suspension request of PTI founder’s X account.
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has declared that the response submitted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) concerning the request to suspend the PTI founder’s X (formerly Twitter) account is inadequate. This statement came during a hearing on the matter.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir stated that the court will hear the final arguments on 24 February, provided PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja is allowed to meet the Pakistan Tehreeq-e-Insaaf founder. However, if the meeting is not permitted, the Advocate General Islamabad’s Office must submit a detailed written response regarding the contempt of court petition.

During the proceedings, Salman Akram Raja told the court that he has not been allowed to meet his client, despite ongoing cases. He explained that the PTI founder is being kept in solitary confinement and that the court order dated 4 November, which allowed meetings, has not been followed for the past two months.
The lawyer asked whether he should proceed immediately to Adiala Jail to meet his client. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that the case cannot progress unless the lawyer is allowed to meet the PTI founder. He also highlighted discrepancies between the writ petition and PTA’s response and instructed that all necessary details should be provided in writing. The court will review the submission before issuing further orders.
The IHC then adjourned the case, announcing that it will resume on 24 February 2026.
