Escaped pet lion attacks child in Iqbal Town; owner arrested as authorities tighten wildlife laws.
In Lahore, in the Iqbal Town area, a very scary incident happened. In the Bhaigewal area, a pet lion escaped from its cage. It suddenly attacked a young girl. The girl was only eight years old. People in the area became very scared.
The little girl got injuries on her head and ears. People quickly took her to Shaikh Zayed Hospital. Doctors started her treatment at once. Luckily, the girl did not get life-threatening injuries. Her life is not in danger.
After this incident, many people in the area became worried. They said that wild animals like lions should not be kept as pets. Such animals are very dangerous, especially for children and families living nearby.
The police took quick action and arrested the owner of the lion. The authorities said that a full investigation is going on. They also said that strict action will be taken against the careless owner.
This is not the first time this has happened in Lahore. Last year, another pet lion escaped from its place. It chased a woman and her two small children on a busy road.
Police officials said:
“The lion owner has been arrested, and a full investigation is under way. Strict legal action will be taken for negligence.”
CCTV cameras showed the lion jumping over a wall. It pushed the woman to the ground. Then it attacked her two children, who were five and seven years old.

The police arrested three men within 12 hours. These men had run away with it. It was only 11 months old. It was sent to a wildlife park, where doctors checked it and said it was healthy.
Authorities stated:
“New wildlife laws were introduced to stop such incidents and protect public safety.”
In Punjab, some people keep lions and other wild animals to show power and status. After another lion escape in December 2024, the government made new rules. Now, people need a license to keep such animals. Big cats are not allowed in residential areas. Breeders must pay fees. Lions can only be kept on big farms of at least 10 acres.
