Pakistani cinema goes global as Film Lali selected for the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, February 12–22, 2026.
Lahore: Sarmad Khoosat’s new Film Lali will have its world premiere at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival. The festival will take place in Berlin from February 12 to 22, 2026.
The film’s makers announced this on the official Instagram page. They said they are happy and thankful for the international recognition.
“It’s a proud moment for Pakistani cinema to have “Film Lali” recognized on such a prestigious international platform,” said a producer of Khoosat Films.

Film Lali stars Mamya Shahjaffar in the lead role. Other actors in the film include Rasti Farooq, Meher Bano, and many more.

The Film Lali has music by Star Shah, a Punjabi hip-hop artist famous for his song 2AM on Coke Studio Season 15. The background music is composed by Abdullah Siddiqui.
The movie is produced by Khoosat Films and Dubai-based Enso Studios. Saim Sadiq and Tooba Siddiqui are also executive producers.

“Berlin Film Festival is the perfect stage to show the diversity and talent of Pakistani stories,” commented Sarmad Khoosat.
This selection at Berlin comes after Sarmad Khoosat won the Best Director award at the DC South Asian Film Festival in 2023 for his film Kamli. This shows that his work is getting noticed internationally.
With its premiere in Berlin, Lali becomes another Pakistani film to be shown at a major world film festival. This demonstrates how Pakistani cinema is reaching more audiences globally.
