Protesters Burn Trump and Netanyahu Effigies in Istanbul

Dozens protest outside U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, burning Trump and Netanyahu effigies over Iran tensions.

Dozens of protesters gathered outside the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul on Friday to show support for the Iranian people amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran. During the demonstration, participants burned posters depicting former U.S. President Donald Trump and Netanyahu Israeli Prime Minister to express their anger over the two countries’ policies toward Iran.

The protest against Donald Trump and Netanyahu was organized by local activist groups. Many demonstrators waved Iranian flags and held banners criticizing foreign interference in Iran. They chanted slogans against Washington and Tel Aviv, accusing both countries of destabilizing the Middle East through sanctions, military threats, and political pressure.

Police were deployed to monitor the protest, which remained mostly peaceful despite the burning of posters. In the region, burning images or flags is a symbolic gesture commonly used to convey public dissent against political leaders or governments.

The rally took place during a period of heightened tension in the Middle East. U.S.-Iran relations have been strained over Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions, and military operations. Israel, a close U.S. ally, has also criticized Iran on security grounds. Turkey, hosting the protest, maintains a delicate diplomatic balance with both countries, and demonstrations like this reflect public sentiment regarding international policies affecting Iran.

The U.S. Consulate in Istanbul did not immediately issue a statement regarding the protest.
