Controversial stumping of Babar Azam divides fans during Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers qualifier.
Babar Azam’s dismissal became a hot topic during the first qualifier of the Big Bash League between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers.
The match was played in Perth, and Sydney Sixers were chasing a target of 148 runs. He came out to bat but was stumped on just the second ball by Cooper Connolly, the wicketkeeper. In the video that went viral online, it looked like Babar’s foot had almost reached the crease while the stumps were broken, making the decision very close. After carefully checking the video, the third umpire still gave Babar Azam out.
Fans on social media were divided over this decision. Some said he was clearly out, while others felt it should have been not out. The debate continued long after the match ended.
