Saif Ali Khan once revealed that Amrita Singh was never asked to convert after their interfaith marriage.
Saif Ali Khan once spoke openly about his marriage with Amrita Singh, their different religions, and how they raised their children Sara and Ibrahim.
Saif Ali Khan married Amrita Singh in 1991. Their marriage ended in 2004.
They have two children named Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif never asked Amrita to change her religion because their marriage was between two different faiths.
Saif said he did not expect Amrita to follow his religion. This was true even though his own mother, Sharmila Tagore, changed her religion after marrying Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
After Saif Ali Khan and Amrita separated, their children followed both parents’ religions. However, Saif felt worried about their religious understanding after the divorce.

In an old interview with The Siasat Daily, Saif said that Amrita, whom he lovingly called Dingy, was never forced to change her religion. He said that from the start, each person was free to follow their own faith. He also said that he followed the same rule while raising Sara and Ibrahim.
Saif also talked about how religion was handled at home when they were together. He said that when Amrita went to the Gurdwara for prayers, he stayed at home to look after the children.
After the divorce, Sara and Ibrahim stayed with Amrita. Saif Ali Khan said that this was an emotional time for him and things felt very different.
He said that he was worried about his children but trusted Amrita completely. He believed that she would not force any religion on them.

Fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla later shared memories of Saif and Amrita’s wedding. They talked about how quickly the wedding was planned during a recent interview.
