A tragic suicide blast Islamabad during Friday prayers when a suicide blast occurred inside Imambargah Khadijat ul Kubra in the Tarlai area, resulting in 31 deaths and leaving over 160 people injured.
Police reported that the attacker was stopped at the main gate of the Imambargah before detonating explosives, causing significant destruction. Witnesses described hearing a loud explosion from far away, with windows of nearby buildings shattered. The suicide blast Islamabad took place during the second part of Friday prayers, while worshippers were bowing, and was preceded by gunfire.
Emergency response teams, including police, rescue workers, and bomb disposal squads, quickly reached the site. The injured were immediately transported to multiple hospitals, including PIMS Hospital, Polyclinic, Federal General Hospital, and Benazir Hospital. When PIMS reached capacity, patients were redirected to other hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad confirmed 31 fatalities and more than 160 injuries, highlighting the severity of the attack. Witnesses described a scene of panic and devastation as people tried to escape the Imambargah.

The Inspector General of Islamabad revealed that his cousin’s son was among the victims, adding a personal dimension to the tragedy.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured, ordered a full investigation, and emphasized that those responsible must be punished. He also directed authorities to provide the best possible medical care to the victims.
The Islamabad community is in mourning as security forces continue to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of other religious sites in the city after suicide blast Islamabad.
