FBR achieves highest-ever tax collection in December
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved a historic milestone by collecting the highest-ever tax in the month of December. According to Federal Board of Revenue officials, a total of Rs 1,427.1 billion was collected in December 2025, which is approximately 99% of the target of Rs 1,446 billion set for the month.
FBR officials briefed Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb about this outstanding achievement. This record tax collection has never been achieved in the month of December in any previous year.
The Inland Revenue Service (IRS) also performed exceptionally well, collecting Rs 1,308 billion against a target of Rs 1,310 billion, achieving nearly 99.8% of its goal.

This collection by Federal Board of Revenue represents a significant increase compared to the previous month. In November, FBR collected Rs 898 billion, which means tax collection in December increased by 59% compared to November. Such growth highlights the improving efficiency and performance of tax authorities.
This achievement comes as a positive sign for Pakistan’s economy, as higher tax collection strengthens public finances and supports government development projects.
