Freezing temperatures, blocked highways, and multiple accidents due to heany Rain & Snowfall reported as severe winter weather continues nationwide.
Heavy rain continued during the night in many cities across the country, while heavy Snowstorm in upper areas badly affected daily life. In Ziarat district of Balochistan, the temperature dropped to minus 15 degrees Celsius, making the cold extremely severe. Due to continuous snowfall and freezing weather, many people remained inside their homes.
In upper regions, heavy snowfall caused major roads to close. Because of blocked roads, local residents and tourists were stranded in different areas. Travel became very difficult as roads turned slippery and traffic movement slowed. Due to accidents in various areas, two people lost their lives.
A strong snowstorm is still ongoing in northern Balochistan. Many vehicles heading towards Ziarat are stuck on the Quetta–Ziarat road. Around 100 tourists are also stranded in their vehicles near Chaman. Traffic at several points on the N-50 highway was severely affected, stopping inter-provincial travel. Nine accidents were reported on this highway due to snow and slippery roads, leaving 27 people injured.

At Kojak Top, cold Siberian winds caused the temperature on the N-25 Chaman–Quetta–Karachi highway to fall to minus 12 degrees Celsius, making conditions even harsher. Near Sheelabagh, several vehicles collided because of icy roads. In this accident, two people died and seven were injured. Quetta also received its first snowfall of the winter season, increasing cold weather problems for residents.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy snowfall was reported in Mansehra, Upper Galiyat, Shangla, Lower Dir, Mohmand, Kalam, Orakzai, Chitral, and Khyber districts. In Tirah Valley of Khyber district, nearly 100 vehicles were stranded due to rain and snowfall, and 35 people were moved to safer locations. In Naran, around six inches of snow has fallen, while Shogran received about one and a half inches. Despite harsh conditions, many tourists reached these areas to enjoy the snowfall. In Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan, two to three feet of snow was recorded in upper regions, blocking roads and forcing residents to stay indoors. Snowfall was also reported in Hunza and Nagar, while people in Chipurson faced serious difficulties.
Snowstorm in Chilas, Babusar Top, Nanga Parbat, Batogah, Darel, and Tangir further increased the cold. In Azad Kashmir, rainfall was reported in several areas, while upper regions experienced snowstorm. Due to snow in Murree, the Murree Expressway was partially closed.
The Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall and more snowfall may continue today in upper areas, which could further disrupt daily life and travel.
