Sindh Officialy Announces New Marks and Grades for Matric and Intermediate Exams

The updated grading system for 2026 aims to make student results clearer, fairer, and more detailed across all subjects in Exams

Sindh has made a new grading system for students in matric (9th and 10th) and intermediate (11th and 12th) exams. This new system will start for 9th and 11th grades in Exams 2026, and for 10th and 12th grades in 2027. The government wants students to understand their marks better and see their results clearly.

The Department of Universities and Boards shared this new rule after the minister and the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC) agreed. One big change is that passing marks are now 40, not 33. This means students need at least 40 marks to pass a subject. If a student gets less than 40, they will get a “U” grade, which means “ungraded.”

Now, each subject will have its own grade in exams, so students can see how they did in every subject. The old GPA (Grade Point Average) and CGPA system will not be used yet. Many universities are not ready to accept GPA, so students will get their grades without GPA for now.

The new grading system also has more detailed grades. Earlier, students scoring 80–100% got A1 grade. Now, marks from 81–100% are divided like this:

  • 96–100: Extraordinary (A++)
  • 91–95: Exceptional (A+)
  • 86–90: Outstanding (A)
  • 81–85: Excellent (B++)

Other grades below 81 are: B+, B, C+, C, D, and U. These mean Very Good, Good, Fair Good, Above Average, Emerging, and Ungraded.

This new system will help students know clearly how they are doing in each subject. Teachers and parents will also understand which students need more help. It will also make results fairer and easier to understand.
